Games Addiction in Context Don’t let it spoil your fun.
A responsible look at Computer Games addiction.
We have seen in the recently published Parts 1 and 2 of this article, that there are many potential benefits to be derived from Computer Gaming and there is every reason to go so far as to encourage gaming for the many instances described earlier where good will be achieved. However, one would be foolish to totally sweep aside the possible risks of addiction. An awareness of the risks to yourself and others for whom you might be responsible is advisable.
Some hard facts follow although we do finish on a positive and optimistic note.
One hears increasingly of social tragedies resulting from computer gaming and there is a rising trend of reported and anecdotal evidence of how gaming addiction can lead to job losses, family break-ups, marriage failure and even deaths
You may remember the 2005 headline case of the South Korean gentleman Lee Seung Seop, who played Starcraft near enough solidly for fifty hours at an Internet cafe. He suffered a cardiac arrest, was taken to a local hospital where he later died. “We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion,” a Taegu provincial police official told the Reuters news agency. The police commented that they did not know if the deceased had been suffering from any prior health conditions and mentioned that the man had been fired from his job for repeated tardiness and missing work to indulge in his computer gaming addiction.
A friend reported: “…he was a game addict. We all knew about it. He couldn’t stop himself.”
A fascinating fact but perhaps not surprising 15 million + people, or 30% of the population, are registered for online gaming in South Korea. It is no surprise that it is a South Korean corporation that operates the World Cyber Games annual event, backed by high profile names including Samsung and Microsoft.
Citing death as a consequence of Computer Game Addiction is thankfully an extreme example and some of you may recognize in yourselves, if not exact parallels with Lee’s demise, certainly the potential for something similar happening to you.

For most people, it will be clear without the need for the tests, if they are spending too much time gaming. Home-based video games are less likely to become addictive compared to MMORPGs and online gaming according to research on the subject. Occasionally, rather than going online to compete, think about playing home-based video games with your friends and family.
Above all, variety rather than hard-core gaming of any type could well be one of the answers.

Camelot Group plc currently operates the UK lottery. A bid is opened in every eight years to call different companies to operate the national lottery. This process is managed and controlled by the National Lottery Commission, an organizations which has no connections with the government of Britain. This company also looks after the just reasonable of players.
Camelot was initially established in1993. It was maintained by shareholders such as Thales Electronics plc, Royal Mail Enterprises Ltd., Fujitsu Services Ltd., Cadbury Schweppes, and De La Rue Holdings plc. One of the shareholders was GTECH; however it was bought out subsequent obstacles that influenced the bid. Tim Holley, and other executives in Camelot were accused being promised huge bonuses. At the time when the labor government took notice of the enormous quantity of money being made by Camelot executives, it became a humiliation to the corporation.
Camelot decided to run in the bidding for the national lottery in 2001. There competitor, The People’s Lottery, was fairly convinced that they would win the bid after the indecent with GTECH. It was found that lottery terminals made by GTECH had a technical problem that made them give out the wrong amounts of winnings. GTECH sold their shares and Camelot continued the race to win the bid.
Things changed when Dame Helena, the National Lottery Commission chair, told that both the companies did not meet the things needed to operate the lottery. Nonetheless, the National Lottery Commission, made all attempts to give the People’s Lottery the chance to operate the lottery. Considering the unfairness, Camelot filed a case again the National Lottery Commission. The High Court decided in favor of the Camelot and declared the Commission’s verdict as “noticeably unfair”. The National Lottery on the other hand, fired the Treasury team, which had taken the decision.
The bidding again reopened later, and Camelot was awarded the bid by 4-1. The shareholders of the company are still the same today, with the exception of the bought-out GTECH. It now operates the UK’s biggest lottery franchise and raises funds for different reasons. This big lottery game is called as the Lotto. Most of their lottery games take place through the ‘scratch cards’ and they choose the ‘number games’.
The fund that is raised by lottery in UK is segregated into various sections. The majority of the fund, for every pound that is spent goes to the ‘prize money’ (50p) or the several good-causes (28p). Whereas 12p of the amounts goes to the government of Britain and 5p of it goes people who sell the lottery tickets, etc. Camelot’s profit is 5p per pound, and it utilizes 4.5p of it, to get their costs, and 0.5p is their profit.
Camelot has since run the UK lottery franchise well and it has flourished. After sales started decreasing they started a new campaign came out with lower costs. This is when the many lottery game was changed to the Lotto, and since more people have started participating. In a recent campaign, one of the lottery games raises money for the Olympics and the Paralympics to be held in the year 2012.

Forza 3 has been out for a good few months now as it was released back in October of 2009 and was announced then as the best driving experience out there, is this going to change with the release of the new F1 game later this year??
If you are talking about in general then of course not, no way, not if you think about. Forza 3 has over 400 cars without DLC content and F1 2010 is not going to have anywhere near this amount simply because it is only going to feature the Formula 1 cars. Once you think of this you must also consider all of the tracks that will be in the game, there are over 100 in Forza 3 and I cannot see more being in the new F1 game.
Although it really is not fair to judge the content of the games because the F1 game is obviously going to be just looking into the whole F1 season. When looking at some of the very early screenshots of the game itself I will say that the graphics look amazing and the weather system is set to be the best in a video game. If the in game rain starts to fall then the track will actually react to it and you will find it more and more hard to drive around on the tracks.
It would seem that the answer to this question really does depend on what racing games you like to play, there seem to be a lot of people out there that seem to think that Forza is not as good as Need For Speed Shift.
Make sure you do not drive a car at the speeds that you can in a video game or you may find yourself needing gap insurance or bad credit car leasing or even bad credit car finance.
